Borderline R/C Flyers Field Rules
As Amended 11th of November 2009
A current Borderline R/C Flyers membership card is required and must be displayed on person at the field. Guest flyers must display a current AMA membership card. All current AMA safety rules will be complied with.
All FCC rules shall apply and will be enforced.
Helicopters are allowed temporally until June of 2011, when we will take a vote for acceptance.
No starting or flying of engine powered aircraft before 9:00 AM.
A club instructor or host member must check out new aircraft before its initial flight. The check out is to include a standard range check.
It is the responsibility of each pilot to ensure that his aircraft is airworthy.
Frequency pin must be attached to frequency board before turning on transmitter.
Student pilots are not permitted to fly by themselves until certified by a club instructor. A club pilot must accompany the new member or guest pilot for the first few flights or until such time as the pilot is deemed safe to fly solo.
Flying alone is not recommended and should be avoided if possible.
Automatic flight control systems must be capable of being “shut off” to permit manual control at all times. Manual flight control shall be used for all takeoffs and landings. Visual contact is required at all times throughout all flights. Flight zone restrictions must be complied with at all times.
Flight duration shall be limited to fifteen (15) minutes.
Except for special events (such as slow stick combat) no more than three (3) aircraft are to be airborne at one time. The third flyer should obtain permission from the first two pilots before taking off. The prevailing wind will determine the pattern to be flown by all. ALL FLIGHT ZONE RESTRICITONS APPLY. Spotters should be used as available.
Engines with a 0.10 cid and larger must be equipped with a muffler that provides equal or better quieting than a stock muffler.
Each club member shall be limited to one (1) guest pilot per day and must be present during all flights. Verification of AMA membership is required for all guest pilot.
The runway will be a single runway of adequate size running from East to West with the flight line stations located on the southern edge of the runway. Observers, tables, chairs, and fence will be approximately 40 feet south of the runway. Aircraft will not fly south of the runway.
Spectators and non-flying guests are required to remain behind the fence during all flying activity.
Field cleanliness is everyone's responsibility! The pit area must be policed for garbage (I.e. Towels, rubber bands, broken propellers, etc.) before leaving.
An overflow bottle or other suitable means of keeping fuel off the grass must be used when fueling airplanes.
There is to be no dumping after landfill hours. Only residents of the town of Stonington are allowed to use the transfer station and only during landfill hours.
The entry gate must be closed and locked except during business hours. No dumping except during business hours.
A majority vote of 25% of the current club members is required to modify or deviate from these field rules and is subject to prior notification.
The next Club meeting is March 14, 2012
